New Sunrise

One of our contributors is also a keen photographer and wanted to share some beautiful photos she took at sunrise and sunset over a beach.

The youtube clip is something Lisa put together for a wider audience, but has granted us use of it.  The music is by Keane from the album "Hopes and Fears" - which she has utilised via the copyrights in youtube.( see the original clip for full details)

Thanks Lisa! ( go and check out our contributors page for more info on some of the talented people who have work included in the anthology.)

Peeping at the Horizon

Its been a busy fortnight for our wonderful team of volunteers.  We intend on using this blog to keep everyone in the loop, rather than send out a myriad of emails. Particularly as it gets closer to launch and publication, we are certain contributors will want to direct others here.

Whats New?

Contracts have been sent out to all successful submissions. We are so delighted to have such a warm response and understanding replies as they are returned.

We are working on the website to showcase all of our contributors with a photo and a bio - so keep a eye out as they get posted up.

What if I got sick of waiting and submitted my work elsewhere?

We can only imagine the frustration you must have felt over the months as the project stood at a standstill and we would like to assure you that we intend seeing it completed and the book published. Obviously, we are mindful that when a publication halts, contributors seek different markets for their work and we understand if the work you initially contributed has been entered or submitted elsewhere. We would be more than happy to accept it for publication as long as the market in which it has already been published allows this. Please check your legal obligations with the other parties before agreeing to allow us to use it.

Whats on the timeline in the near future?

We have given contributors until the last week of March to give consent and return contracts.  After that time, our team will be in contact with individuals with regards to any suggestions of edits.

Stay tuned as we progress. Thanks again for your support and understanding with this wonderful project.

Searching for these Contributors

If you were the contributor who submitted ( or know the person who did) these pieces, please contact us as soon as you can.

Although they have been accepted, unfortunately, without contact details and subsequent contract signed, we will sadly have to withdraw them from publication.

  • Godzilla’s Tea
  •  Summer Tofu in Kyoto
  •  Ninja
  •  Blue Hearts
  •  Steps and Bows in Tokyo
  •  Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall
  •  Tokyo Love Story
  •  Persimmon

Would any artist who also submitted and had their work accepted, please contact the editors as we need high resolution copies of your work for publication.

As folk are contacting us, I am altering this post.

New Sun Rising - like a Phoenix - begins its ascension into 2012

Dear Contributors, Volunteers and  Supporters

There is a small group involved with the project who feel strongly that this book must go ahead, not only on behalf of the contributers, but more importantly to honour the initial aims of this charity anthology.

We have been able to collect the email addresses for most of the submitted fiction, haiku and poetry and are still searching for contact details of any contributing artists whose work had been selected.

We will be emailing you with a contract and would be most grateful for your attention and speedy return reply with this.  After a long rest - we'd like to get this project completed, raise money for our intended charity and be able to forward it on to them in as quick a timeframe as we can.

We are looking into publishing avenues - kindle etc, and POD and will keep those involved in the loop via this blog.

Please direct any further enquires to the New Sun Rising Project Editors

Thank you once again for your patience and understanding.
